I don't mean to be a downer, but I have a serious Blog entry today. I just got a call from my brother; my grandmother died this morning- she died of Alzheimer's Disease. As we geezers get older, we'll probably all face something like this soon. Some of us are gen-x'ers who have older grandparents, and some of us are even baby-boomers who may have parents in this stage.
I thought my story may help others who may be seeing early stages, or even some who are about to face this terrible
I'm 37 years old and taking music lessons - it feels a bit strange (or at least it did at first). I decided to attend a recital after playing for six months. When I asked for a program, the recital administrator asked "Are you Kirk's father?". Hmm - This must be mostly kids here; I hadn't considered that.

Why not try a blog? Obviously I am a gamer, but I like to think of myself as a Renaissance man. Among other things, I am an amateur drummer and a shade tree mechanic (actually more of a car detailer than a mechanic, but close enough).
This entry is more about the "Loud Drums" aspect of my life. I played my first gig on the weekend. My friend's band was playing, and their drummer couldn't make it. After the first set I offered my services. Over the break we set up and
