• Geezer Gamers Spotlight - CyberKnight

Welcome to our inaugural GG Member Spotlight, where we take the best of the best, ignore why they are the best, reach back into the pool of members who by chance found their way to the survey, ask a few questions and boil it down to interesting responses (and sometimes creating our own answers because theirs are boring)!

Ever wanted to know more about one of our mods, CyberKnight? (Yeah, me either, but he was shamed into filling out the survey, so I kind of felt obligated to feature him... .)

    Getting to know you basics:

How did you find out about Geezer Gamers?
I used to play Halo 2 with some younger guys, and when I was lamenting about how my old age and reflexes just weren't keeping up, one of them told me about the site he read about on Bungie.net.

What's the story behind your gamertag? Back in the BBS days, I went by the handle "Silent Knight". At one point, I tried to sign up for some online service, and it was slightly too many characters, so I morphed it into "CyberKnight". When I heard about Xbox Live, I signed up for the beta, primarily to get into something cool but also so I could make sure I could get "CyberKnight" without having to add extra numbers or letters.

Favorite single-player game? Multi-player game? XBL game? Anything with achievements. Halo is still my favorite multiplayer game, even though I suck at it. On Xbox Live, anything with Geezers usually makes for a good time. I like playing for fun, and achievement-boosting too, whether I'm getting my own or helping others boost their gamerscore.

    Let's play 20 Questions!

What is your favorite flavor of ice cream? Mint Oreo.

What is your favorite quote? "Hellooooooooo Nurse!"

What was the last thing you regret buying? Can't remember; maybe I need to buy Alzheimer's medicine.

If you had a chance to bring one person back from the dead, who would it be and why? George Washington. Maybe he could talk some sense into today's politicians and teach them how a country's *supposed* to be run.

What three things you regret not learning to do? Finish a basement, play the piano *well*, and fly.

If you had a crystal ball that could tell you the truth about any one thing you wished to know about yourself, life, the future, or anything else, what would you want to know? Winning numbers for the next week's lottery.

What is the most important invention or innovation that has happened during your life-time? Consumer-grade internet. Communication and information exchange brought to the masses.

How would you spend your ideal day? I have a T-shirt that sums it up nicely: Wake up, play videogames, eat breakfast, play videogames, eat lunch, play videogames, eat dinner, play videogames, sleep.

What three adjectives might other people use to describe your personality? If you ask my co-workers, the answer is "bitter", "jaded", and "gruntled".

Who would you choose to be shipwrecked on a desert island with? My wife. Not only is she the one I've chosen to spend eternity with, but she would probably come up with a plan to build a lovely summer home out of the palm trees.

If you were to be remembered for one thing, what would you like it to be?
I don't really care, as long as I'm remembered fondly and not "I'm glad he's gone."

If you were guaranteed honest responses to any three questions, whom would you question, and what would you ask them? No one comes to mind...

Is there anything you would willingly give your life for? Defense of my family.

If you could re-live a day of your life again, which would it be and why?
I've made way too many mistakes to pick just one; but since I don't know if anything I've done differently might change where I am now (which may not be perfect, but it's pretty good), I think I'd be better off leaving things just the way they are.

If you could be invisible for a day, what would you do? No idea, but I have to admit the women's locker room in a fitness club would be rather tempting...

What is on your bedside table? Alarm clock/phone, and a bunch of other stuff that I don't even remember.

What is your favorite cereal? Cocoa Krispies.

What is your dream job? Being retired.

What is your favorite TV show? I haven't watched broadcast TV in over a year, ditching cable in favor of Netflix. I love watching Phineas and Ferb with my kids, and recently finished watching BSG.

What is your favorite movie? I like science fiction and comedy. My Windows Phone has the movies Airplane and Spaceballs on it for extra-boring days at work.

Amongst the many things I have in common with you, I also have the same "dream" job.

I'd probably pick George Washington too. This country needs his leadership as much now as it did at the beginning.
