Matchmade (matchmaking)...in heaven?
XBox Livedoodirock writes "Last night, Friday the 25th of February, 8 guys from the Geezer Gamerz clan played in what has to be one of the longest ever recorded matchmade BTB games. This was our second BTB game of the night, with the matchup being Assault on Headlong.

As the red team, our first assignment was defense of the base, and we followed our typical strats that have been proven to be highly effective. Establish the sniper to call out positions, gather the rockets (both if possible), setup our "point of entry" stations for warning of enemy attacks. This was carried out in under 30 seconds, and we prepared for the inevitable arrival of our competitors.......except.......it never happened. Our first consideration when the time approached 2 minutes left, was that they would gather the bomb and wait till the last couple of seconds hoping we would be so bored, we come looking for them, so that when they approached the base it would be empty. As soon as the words "Sudden Death" was heard though, we became a little more confused.

Our next plan was to send out a couple of recon units to establish our enemies position and to report back on intent. The report that came back was suprising. "They are all behind their own base shooting each other and messing around" was the report. "I guess we'll have to go get them", was the default plan...since they won't come to us, we'll go to them. Leaving a couple of people in the base, we sent more and more people over to the base, destroying their team, and redestroying their team when they spawned. They were not very good FFA guys, so we dominated them at their own base.....however the bomb icon had never turned up in all this time.

We immediately assumed cheating somehow, or that they had taken and hidden the bomb somewhere where the icon would not show on the map. So everytime we killed one, we used proximity chat to tell them to quit cheating and finish the game. Shortly after, doodirock started receiving friend requests from guys on the other team, while we were still in game. When accepting them, they left the typical messages, such as "you suck blah blah blah.....you can't win blah blah blah. But there was one message that proved to be the most interesting one of all and let us know their intention. They simply explained to us that they had used a glitch and taken the bomb away, and were going to wait till we quit, so that they could win against us. They wanted us to quit??? They thought we didn't have enough patience to wait it out??? Didn't they realize that they were playing Geezers??? We established right then and there, that we would either beat these guys by figuring out how they did it and discovering the bomb, or we would wait all night until their parents made them quit and come down for breakfast that next morning.

At about the 1 hour point, members of their team got tired of the inactivity, and began to drop....eventually leaving 3 members from their team that were left. One member was immediately identifed, and promptly spawn camped for the remainder of the night...we could find him, but we could not locate the other two, for all of our searches. Therefore, they had taken it off of the map somewhere. We quickly established that they had been very interested in our banshee early on, so it seemed logical that they had used it to take advantage of some glitch to hide the bomb. Shortly after we had established that fact, one of our team members discovered them.....above the map, where it seemed impossible to get to.....except we are geezers and don't quit till we figure it out....we may be outgunned, but never outwitted.

Their trick, after a little internet searching for cheats, was to take the banshee above the offense spawn base. This requires patience and technique because the bomb carrier has to stand on top of the banshee while someone else pilots it. At a crucial point the banshee uses it's turbo and flings the carrier above where the banshee itself can fly....sound easy? It is much much harder than it sounds. We never did get up the same way that their group did....so we simply found another. With some brilliant flying by Mike James, doodirock, Muskie Demon, and myself managed to get atop the map, where our remaining task was to find the last two guys. You would think that simple as well, but let me tell you, that up above the map.......it is BIG!! Probably almost as big as the rest of the map combined. We had the firepower (Rockets, BR, Snipers) and obviously the brainpower to complete the rest of our task. It took about 10 minutes, but we finally located the last guy, the bomb carrier. He was hidden behind some sort of invisible wall and my rockets had no effect. Doodirock traversed a narrow invisible walkway and eventually gave the bomb carrier a rocket to the teeth. Round Over!!!

The next three rounds (2 on offense for us, 1 on defense) went as expected. We scored twice, they scored none. Geezer Gamerz wins 2 to 0. Total time - 2 hours, 4 minutes, 13 seconds. Don't mess with a geezer when it comes to battles of the mind. We will win every time. Reporting these people to bungie is our next step. People like this ruin the game for all.

Good for you guys for sticking it out, and finding the cheater. I've considered canceling my abox live account because of all the cheating going on! May I join the geezer gamerz clan? My gametag is Madforest. Instead of quiting It would be better dealing with cheaters your way. I loved it!!

As an over 30 player (and the oldest member of the HBO Helljumpers clan), I punched the air and whooped with delight at your victory.
Now if anyone could possibly help me lower my arm and reset my back, I'd be most obliged.

I played with those rat bastards a few weeks ago, they pulled the same trash. We managed to hold them for the first round, but by then, nearly all of my team had quit and they scored at their leisure next round. Their excuse was that "negotiating" (let us score or we won't play) for the bomb score is a legitimate way to play. I reported them all, hope you guys did the same.

Same thing happened to us last night 3/1/05. But being geezers we waited them out. After we found out what was happening, it only took us 20 minutes to finish the 1st round. Total game 34 minutes

I can't say that I haven't held onto a bomb to try to make the other team leave...but I make sure to stay within legal boundries of the map so that if the other team looks, they can find me. Nice job at staying with it and finding them.
