Worst...Movie...EVER!

i know this category can actually break down into a few different sub-categories. like, you might have reasonable expectations for a movie and it turns out to be really poorly done...not funny, not emotive...whatever.

there's also the "plan 9 from planet x" sort of bad...the ones that MST3000 used to mine gold by the sheer mockery factor.

last night my gf and i went over to Dstarz' place for dinner/hawks loss w/him and his fiance. after the game ended he flipped through the channels and found a movie on the SciFi network called Sharktopus. this movie was destined for maximum B- movie status solely due to the Eric Roberts factor. still, i thought even ER had his standards...apparently not.

this was, by far, the worst written, produced, directed, and acted movie i've ever seen. we were sitting there trying to imagine the pitch to get this movie made. i'm not sure where you can find it, outside of the SciFi network, but it's worth a watch just for humor's sake. we only saw the last 30 minutes or so, and maybe we missed all the brilliant work...

If you guys are up for some good laughs (and obvious copying of games like Halo) in a movie, there are two available for Netflix Instant Watch parties...

Recon 2022 and Recon 2023. (some nudity in the second one (or both?) maybe, but FUNNY stuff) I think the 13 year old kids at Halo launches have better costumes than these guys.

On the old site, someone posted a trailer for Sharktopus. Looked god-awful. The excuse of, "Well, it's supposed to be bad," doesn't excuse it.

Back when Clan Elysium was viable, we used to have a Friday Night Netflix Party. We'd find the most ridiculous films, and there are plenty, and mock them MST3000 style. There were two, that come to mind, that were so bad we could not stand to watch more than 10 or 15 minutes of them. These were "Vegas in Space" which was drag-queen gender-bending from hell; the other was "Dumpster Baby."

For bad flicks in the style of "Plan 9 from Outer Space" I highly recommend "Robot Monster." It is rife with continuity errors, cheezy effects (you can actually see the guy holding the space station on a stick as it "explodes"), hokey dialog, improbable plot twists and best of all--the robot monster is a guy in a gorilla suit with a diving helmet on. This is the best of the worst. You must see this film to believe it.

I know you guys are talking B-Movie bad (at least I think you are) but the absolute worst movie ever made (not counting things like 70s sploitation films -I spit on your Grave, Cannibal Holocaust, etc) has got to be A Boy and his Dog. This is the the worst movie ever made.

Just in time for the holiday season I present to you Jack Frost.

In this 1997 film, Jack Frost is a serial killer who was captured in Colorado. He's on his way to be executed but there's a blizzard and his prison transport collides with a truck carrying a tank of genetically altered acid. What occurs when the acid hits Jack and the whole mess dissolves into the snow? Killer snowman, of course.

I first came across this movie on HBO and just had to watch it. It obviously didn't have a huge budget. Jack Frost's "hands" look like white oven mitts. But the movie doesn't take itself seriously. From the credits it looks like they had fun making it and the humor shows through in the story.

This is by far not the cheesiest or worst movie I've ever seen. In fact, I actually like it. So if you get tired of sentimental holiday movies in the next two months, or enjoy corny horror/comedy films, Jack Frost may be for you.
