This year's SSX reboot lost its original subtitle of Deadly Decent, but the game stayed true to that ideal by only letting players challenge other player's ghosts in its asynchronous multiplayer. Today's update however, brings head-to-head multiplayer to the mix.
Update 1.02 adds new events that will allow you to face up to five other opponents in competitive multiplayer. Events against actual opponents will be marked under 3-2-1! GO! events. Riders will also be able to set up their own custom events in custom made events.
The update also brings a little bit of addition by subtraction in the new Freeride mode, which strips the game of it's HUD and any rules by letting players venture downhill at a more leisurely pace.
The patch also brings a handful of improvements and optimizations to the game's RiderNet as well as the standard bugfixes and optimizations that come part and parcel with patches.
The amount of post release support, as well as comments by top level EA executives, bodes well for the continuation of the series.
