Superman Reboot

Seems that they're doing it, and they've announced that Henry Cavill, who plays Charles Brandon on The Tudors, will play Superman. Is it me, or is it weird that all of the big American superheroes these days are being played by non-American actors. Hugh Jackman is Wolverine, Andrew Garfield is Spider-Man, Christian Bale is Batman...makes me miss Ben Affleck as Daredevil.

Here's a list of Superheroes that will appear on screen (or recently have released films) the next few years:

Chris Evans (Captain America) is American.
Robert Downey Jr (Iron Man) is American.
Mark Ruffalo (Bruce Banner) is American.
Lou Ferrigno (Hulk Voice(rumored)) is American.
Jeremy Renner (Hawkeye) is American.
Scarlett Johansson (Black Widow) is American.
Samuel L. Jackson (Nick Fury) is American.
Don Cheadle (War Machine) is American.

Chris Hemsworth (Thor) is Australian.
Seth Rogen (The Green Hornet) is Canadian.
Ryan Reynolds (The Green Lantern) is Canadian.

What bothers me more than casting a foreigner as an American character is when they cast "pretty" for a non-pretty part (a la Peter Parker).

The key word in my statement above was "big." I know that there are plenty of heroes being played by American actors, but I guess it's when I think of the BIGGEST heroes, which are, no doubt, Spider-Man, Superman, Batman, and arguably Wolverine.

I just read somewhere, I don't have a link, so you'll have to trust me, but this is the second time that Cavill has been chosen to play Superman. The last time was when McG (?) was going to direct a reboot.

Routh was fantastic - he really nailed the Christopher Reeve Superman. The problem, I read at AintItCool.com is that they wanted this new Superman movie (and any sequels) to stand apart from Bryan Singer's Superman with Routh. They didn't want the audience to think that the new one was part of Singer's story.

Ok, #1, I can't abide anyone who insists on going by "McG." Dumbest f***ing name, EVER. And #2, Charlie's Angels was one of the worst pieces of shit that I ever watched. If that douchebag EVER does a Superman movie, I'm pretty sure it will suck donkey balls.

I didn't pay money to see the last Superman movie and I sure as hell won't be paying money for this reboot nor the the Spiderman reboot. Superman = Christopher Reeve, Spiderman = Toby Macquire.. nuff said.
