Suggestion: Clan/Group Affiliation Titles ("Senior Post Whore", etc)

Looking at the profile titles this morning I had an idea, though I'm not sure how it would be implemented. I do think it might encourage people to join groups and to possibly pick one as their main home here at GG.

What about a drop down bar with the names of each Clan/Group and under our name, instead of "Senior Post Whore", it showed which clan we were in? You could even have it linked to the URL for that clan's forum here at GG. It might do well since some of our titles are a bit outdated. ("I'm Rick James, Biatch!")

Default would be "Free Agent". You could even have a modified "Free Agent" that people could use to show they were interested in joining a clan/group.

I like this. How would one go about selecting more than one option? (We have several members in DTH that are also in other groups.) Would a leader within the group assign the title? I know folks in our group probably wouldn't like the fact that someone could automatically list themselves as DTH if they weren't in the group.

See that's where DTH and AP are different... we'd take any and all "fake AP" members.

We have the capability of giving usergroups special username markup (see the new admin, mod, and council markup) or special titles. We also then have the capability of allowing users to choose in their control panel which one to display. So Klyde, for example, could perhaps choose to be displayed as a council member, as a member of DTH, or as a VIP.

To the concept, I worry that this implies that people have to be in a group to enjoy the site, since that doesn't seem to be the case any more.

Now if you were to tell me that by doing this, I wouldn't have to go policing all the sigs all the time, I'd ask you about that bridge you were going to sell me...

Regarding Maizrim's idea: I'd have the same concern as Squidgey. It may give the impression that people have to join a group.
