    The MLS thread

I know there are quite a few fans of the beautiful game here but I wonder how many folks follow MLS? The local Whitecaps are an expansion team this year so I've started following and I'm really enjoying it. I'm not too familiar with all the teams etc but the games have been entertaining. Especially last game!

Whitecaps were down to Sporting Kansas City 3-1 at the end of regulation and 5 minutes of injury time was called. In the span of 90 seconds during the extra time the Caps scored twice to salvage a tie! What a comeback.

Can't wait to see a game with the Seattle Sounders. Having a local rival is going to be awesome. Bring on the competition for the Cascadia Cup! No way we'll win the championship in an expansion year but I'd like to see us compete closely for the Cascadia Cup with the Sounders and the Portland Timber.

Two goals in 5 minutes of stoppage time. You almost never see that happen. Cool.

I stop and watch MLS soccer when i see it on and love that the Premier League is on ESPN, but I don't "follow" it. I love the game, but really don't know many of the players, though I do remember many from the World Cup playing in the games in Europe. If I had a MLS team close, I would probably take in a few games.

I am a follower of Seattle Sounders FC. So far this year our team has a problem scoring goals and keeping a lead. 0-2-2 is not a great start to the season. I will most likely be heading up to vancouver for the away game up there. Our next game will be against the Fire who are 2-0-1 on the season. Hopefully my sounders can start finishing in front of the net and win some games.

The rivalry between Portland, Vancouver and Seattle will be epic.

That comeback made for an excellent game (and somewhat surprising) against Kansas.

Man, our idiot designated player Hassli got himself suspended for his second game in 4 by getting another red card. And for the dumbest reason in the world. He already had a yellow card and the team was down one man due to an earlier red card when he scored to go up 1-0. He got excited and pulled off his shirt. Under it was another identical uniform jersey but the rules state a player may not take off their shirt on the pitch. They have the same rule in Europe where he has played for years so he has no excuse. AAARRRRGGG. They ended up being down two men as a result and were lucky to only concede one goal. Gah.

I feel your pain Yardarm, sometimes the players do some of the dumbest stuff on the pitch.

Sounders update: We won our first game of the season against Chicago 2-1. We played a great first half, had control of the ball and were attacking the net. In the second half after being up 2-1 our team played too loose and almost conceded 3 goals. If not for Keller in net making 3 point blank saves in about 8-10 minutes it would have been a different story. Next up Phillly who is currently atop the eastern conference and is a tough team to beat at their home stadium.

So last week there were a couple of serious injury to good players on teams. Both were the result of ill timed and reckless slide tackles. One was on Steve Zakuani http://www.totalprosports.com/2011/0...g-break-video/
This tackle resulted in a broken tibula and fibula for steve and he will most likely miss the rest of the season. This puts my team in a tough spot since he was one of our best players. The other injury was to last years MVP David Ferreira of Dallas. He broke two bones in his ankle. So basically i am just bitching because my team lost one of its best players and may lead to some poor games from my side.
