I don't see TOO much that's new, but it's just exciting to see that my phone was updated. I will say that it's faster, and smoother. The battery seems to last a little longer (I didn't charge it once from Sunday to today). Also, it's using a different standard color scheme for everything, which makes it look like a new phone. I guess I'm just excited to know that my phone is still being supported.

Just release the Galaxy Nexus already!!

OMG. I know I am such a phone nerd, and I realize it's "just" a phone. But they need to hurry up and release the Galaxy Nexus!

Anybody elses' brain exploding over this? I know this pales in comparison to the world's problems and all that, but I want my new toy...

I have one. It's awesome so far, but I've not yet downloaded any apps so I've got to page through this thread and find good ones. Anybody have classics or new ones they'd like to point out to save me some time?

The app I use more than anything is Handcent. It's better than any stock SMS app that I've seen.

AdFree blocks ads in a lot of things.

Astro is a great file management app, but you might not be ready to delve into that yet.

Barcode Scanner lets you read all those QR codes that are on everything these days.

Chrome To Phone is neat if you use Chrome as your browser on your PC. Let's you send web pages, phone numbers, etc. to your phone with a single click.

I like Gmote just to show off. It lets you use your phone as a remote for music or as a touchpad/keyboard for your computer.

I use Lookout as an antivirus.

I prefer Meridian for music playback.

    Netflix, of course.

    Pandora for streaming music.

Shopsavvy lets you scan a barcode on a product, and it will look up the best prices both locally and online. I love it. I also use it just to remember the things that I want to buy.

Soundhound or Shazam, for when you go, "Man, what's this song?" Soundhound lets you even sing into it or just hum into it. Maybe Shazam does that now, as well, but I've switched over to Soundhound.

I use Swiftkey as my keyboard, but if that's not your style, Swype is pretty awesome as well. Swiftkey is predictive, learning from you and guessing what you're going to type next. Swype is a slide keyboard, meaning you don't tap the letters, you just slide your finger around, and based on the path, it figures out what you were likely typing. Both work really well.

That's about the highlights for now.
You dumb bastard. It's not a schooner, it's a sailboat.

I found a new app I love. Team Viewer. I have been using it for remote desktop work with friends and families to fix minor computer issues. Just found out there was an android version. Lets me remote to either of my laptops or my desktop with just a couple clicks.

I have a calendaring question about doing it the hard way:

I want to run some calendaring software on my website that uses some standard calendar sync protcol like ical and then find an Android app to talk to it that I can run on an android device (the wife's kindle).

It isn't quite important enough to warrant paying $25 for the android software but it might be worth $5.

Doing some exploration this morning, it seems like you either use Google everything or you're out of luck. Is calendaring just not that interesting that there isn't some open source protocol for the folks who don't want to be all google?

Anyone have the game app called Ingress they are playing? Currently the game is by invite only, and I would love to get an invite to play the game.
