    Metal Gear Solid HD Collection

For the 360 and PS3, includes HD remasters of Metal Gear Solid 2: Sons of Liberty, Metal Gear Solid 3: Snake Eater, and Metal Gear Solid: Peace Walker.

Peace Walker will support four person online co op.

    ...

I didn't play any Metal Gear games after the first one, so this could be intriguing.

I have only made it a quarter of the way through MSG4. I don't see how I would have time to play through 3 other MSG games. It is very sad...

Oh man! I'm definitely excited for this, particularly for Peace Walker. A year ago, my "summer project" was to play through all four console MGS games, and I'm so glad I did. The first one is one of my favorite games, period, and I think its ingenuity still stands out. If you can't stand PS1 graphics, pick up the Game Cube remake Twin Snakes.

Not to ruin it (no spoiler), but MGS2 was a let down. It is literally a rehash of the first game. It's worth playing for anyone invested in the story and for the first couple hours and the last couple hours. MGS3 is one of the finest games I've ever played and is certainly worth a replay. These games are like giant action movies/animes. MGS4 brings the series into the new generation and is the most accessible, in terms of game play.

Here's hoping I can just buy Peace Walker off PSN as a standalone, and not need to buy the entire box set. Can't wait to co-op some espionage action!

What would've made this set totally awesome is if they had included Twin Snakes. It was running on the MGS2 engine if I understood correctly, so even though it would've meant crossing another platform it couldn't have been that much more work than porting 2, 3 and Peace Walker, right? It just puts me off a bit to buy a "collection" that's missing games. Even worse with the upcoming Silent Hill collection. It's just 2 and 3. I can understand leaving 4 out, that was another game just retooled with the Silent Hill license, but how is it a collection without the first game? I get that it would be a ton more work to "HD" it, but I'd be fine with it included in its original form as a bonus or something.

Okay I got way off topic there, but the point is, I'll probably not trade my PS2 copies for any of these for a while...

Silent Hill 1 has never been remade like MGS1 has been as Twin Snakes, so upscaling that would have been bottom up project. I hadn't thought about Twin Snakes, though. It's probably caught up in some licensing deal at Nintendo. But, if Twin Snakes ever gets the HD makeover, I'd love to see the remade/remastered Resident Evil that was released on Game Cube/Wii.
