Let's talk team strategy in MW3

    Hey guys,

Sadly, I'm not a member of a team or clan yet but I see huge potential in MW3 for those groups. For those who are in clans/teams/etc, I want to talk tactics.

For example, the strike packages look like an awesome way to do some honest boosting (oxymoron, right?). A five man team with two assault and three support could probably get a chopper gunner every game. And if you're playing Domination, the support guys would be capping flags while the assault guys get kills in defense. It seems so awesome to me, just thinking about it.

Anyway, this sort of class-based approach has huge potential.

So I'm curious: what else could happen? Or better yet, what do you guys do now? I do so much lone-wolf stuff I forget there might be people who actually work together ...

As a proud member of DTH, I can say that we are eagerly awaiting MW3. It does appear to be much more team friendly, especially the team deathmatch kill-confirm "dog tag" capture game mode. As for the strategy we use in current Black Ops/MW2 play translating into MW3 I expect that MW3 will bring this to whole new level, with the 3 equip/load-out package choices. Speaking not just for DTH but Geezers in general who play CoD, there are many players whose skills fit into each of these categories: The Assault/SMG run and gunner, the Support Assault rifle/LMG/defender and the Specialist/sniper. A full group of Geezers should be able to maximize the teamwork aspects of these classes and more than hold our own against randoms and even established clans.

Typical Geezer strategy is to control one map area and/or traffic flow points; some (i.e. random Timmies) may call it "camping" although it's not as much hiding in one spot as it is establishing control over a specific map zone and not rushing from one side of the map to the other. From what I can see, the kill-confirm gamemode will play right into our strengths in this area. Randoms tend to be very aggressive and keep charging into your control zone, providing lots of kill fodder.

With the clan tools provided by "Elite", it will be interesting to see if more team orientated groups show up as match opponents in MW3, or if they will still be mainly a motley collection of randoms who play only for themselves.......

I am so accustomed to playing with a group of geezers I cant stand lone wolf play.

Feel free to send a friend request to the AAA DTH Geezers gamer tag and look up the Friends to see others online playing COD and ask for an invite to a game.

I think Gerry summed up our particular group's strategy pretty well, so I don't have much to add. It really is our play style to attempt to control area(s) of the map, which in turn helps keep the timmies in front of us so we're free to operate without fear some little bastard knifing you from behind.

I haven't really studied the strike packages much yet but I Wright is pretty spot on as far as how Geezers (or other folks that play as a team) could utilize the package setups.

ETA: Oh ya, what Shug said..... Feel free fire off FR's any of us and don't be shy about asking for invites.

Yes, map control is absolutely key. I've been playing mw2 lately after getting tired of Black Ops and my best games have been when I stick to a zone. In Blops I had a good K/D just running and gunning but I could never do that in MW2. So coming back to that game, I had to relearn my old style.

I'm also excited about kill confirmed. I could see duos performing very well in that game type. If it's a 6v6 then three duos could cover each others tags nicely while controlling the map.

I'll definitely FR the AAA DTH. In years past, I always played with the cirques (awesome group) but I can't find too many people playing MW2.

    See you guys around.

Oh, and the land mine thingy looks awesome. Talk about map control. A team could trap all choke points and prevent flankers with those things. They look cool.

I think the 'bouncing betty' land mine is going to make for an awesome weapon in Kill Confirmed. I'd love to know how long dog tags will remain on the map...do they de-spawn if not picked up after a period of time? I can see dropping a mine in close proximity to a dog tag in order to nail someone that is trying to pick it up. If the Scavenger perk allows you to resupply the landmines...look out !

I understand you earn points toward a support strike package by completing objectives in addition to scoring kills, so support oriented folks like me can earn rewards by doing useful things for the team. Sounds like this will include capping flags and locations, tagging with drones, planting bombs, etc. It should help shift the focus back to mission goals on non-deathmatch games like Domination, etc. And the perks list sounds nice.

The more I learn about this game the more excited I get. Hell, they may even convince me to get the Hardened Edition...

It only took me 9 months of playing with Geezers/DTH before I stopped flipping the spawn by crossing the road on Ambush....

I agree. MW2 introduced me to the series and made me leave Halo forever. Black Ops was great, too, for its features but gameplay felt like a lateral step. But MW3 looks so much better in features, gameplay, and everything else.

And talk about switching spawns, I have actually seen people do that *deliberately* in objectives games. Take a riot shield and just marchat the other side of the map. I guess its to try shift lines or possibly remove an enemy spawn from a nearby flag? I don't know. But I heard a couple players talking and doing it. Seemed curious.
