Gears of War 3 - Brothers to the End

I only got dropped once last night AFTER a ranked TDM game on the loading screen. Had to back out to the dashboard, and when I returned I got a nice little message saying that a penalty was being levied against me for quitting early during a ranked match... lost 2K of XP as a result. Other than that, gameplay is pretty slick. Host advantage seems to be almost nothing (although the last game we had last night seemed to be reminiscent of Gears 2 host-advantage with the other team), and the rendering of the levels is absolutely fantastic!

Most likely a server hiccup. There are no hosts in Gears 3, all dedicated servers. With the pounding they are taking I am absolutely amazed I have not run into one dropped match, one laggy match, or long wait times to get into matches. Bravo Epic!

What a fun game. I finished the game co-op a little while ago. Beast mode is really fun. I'm liking Hoard 2.0 better than Hoard from Gears 2.

Other than the overall quality of the game, the thing that stands out to me is that I haven't had a single dropped game or issues getting into games as with most release day games. Great job Epic

I'm a lukewarm fan of the Gears series. I play it mainly because I like co-op and it's popular among the Geezers I usually hang with. I almost passed on GoW3, but New Egg was selling it for $45, so I figured what the hell.

I'm quite impressed with the quality of the game and the campaign. So far the missions and the story meld seamlessly. I feel like the missions are actually advancing the plot instead of filling in for missing or weak plot structure. The acting is excellent, the conversations between characters seem natural and appropriate to a group of soldiers who have been through three series. I especially like the inside jokes as when Marcus sets-up Cole for a dig on Baird about bladder control.

Horde is as fun as ever, but it remains to be seen if it turns into the tedium that GoW2 horde became after a short while. I like the new boss battles and that they get mixed up, even when retuning to a failed session. Beast mode is fun, but 12 levels is too little. A word of advice...make your money early on as a ticker, the exploding kind.

My only complaint is that occasionally the frame-rate slows in scenes with lots going on. This happened while playing the campaing with three friends. Perhaps it had something to do with the number of players. I haven't been far enough into the campaign, solo, to find out.

The best things about GoW3:

1. 4 player co-op with easy drop-in and drop-out - best I've ever seen
2. Brumak as a horde boss. I was not expecting that.
3. Retro-lancer
4. Fully automatic Hammerburst with iron sights
5. Brighter more colorful environments.

That's what turns me off of Samantha. And I love RED HEADS, but for one reason or another, Sam just doesn't do anything for me. Now, Anya...OH, YEAH!

Samantha is too butch. Her face has too many manly features.

It's like the woman who stars in the TV show Bones. Sometimes she looks good, other times she looks odd. Her bone structure is too masculine to be considered feminine which kills it for me.
