HAPPY HOLIDAYS
I was heavy into arcade games growing up, pinball, Mario Brothers, Donkey Kong, Centipede, etc.. Had a few stores in my neighborhood that always had the newest arcade games in them.
Then my parents got me the Nintendo NES as a Christmas present in the mid 80's and it brought most of those games home for me. Since then I have pretty much gotten or bought the newest game systems every time they release. <except the PS3>.
I saw someone playing a game called Pong.
I said, "Hey, what's that?"
They said, "It's called a video game."
I replied, "Awesome!"
... and I've been playing video games ever since.
I wish i had started when i was young
For me it started as a kid, my older had a sega master system and a intellivision II.
I never had an arcade around, but would play arcade games wherever I could - at the front of stores, restaurants, bowling alleys. When I was very young, we got an Atari 2600, and I've been hooked ever since.
You dumb bastard. It's not a schooner, it's a sailboat.
My love of gaming started at a young age. Growing up in a small town, we were lucky to have an arcade. I would go a couple times a week to play pinball, Mario Bros., Pole Position, Moon Patrol, Spy Hunter... The list goes on and on. We also had a Pong system at home and while most of my friends had either an Atari or Intellvision, we also had a Coleco Vision. I guess you can say that I am a life-long gamer.
Sorry folks, parks closed....the moose out front should have told ya.
What really got me into gaming was a couple of different arcades in my hometown. The first one opened when I was in high school, and I was dating the daughter of the owner. If I went in when she was working, I got to play for free.
The second arcade opened when I was working for the state police. I was in there one night and they were charging like 5 bucks a person and then the games were free to play for about 3 hours, once a week. I was talking to the owner one night, and he saw my badge on my belt, and he asked if I would be willing to come in tje night they did the all you can play for free thing and hang out, and I got in for free for doing that.
I also have an Atari 2600 with about 50 games when I was a kid too.
