    XBOX One (Holiday 2013)

    From Kotaku...

AMD, the tech company responsible for Xbox 360 graphics tech, said the next Xbox will be able to render graphical detail on par with James Cameron's sci-fi opus, Avatar.

AMD won't confirm it's working on the new Xbox, but, according to the Official Xbox Magazine, AMD said the new Xbox will launch with that level of graphics.

What's more, AMD's Neal Robison added that the upcoming A.I. will enable every pedestrian in, say, Grand Theft Auto have their own personality and react to situations differently.

This sounds like AMD talking up whatever they're working on. Fingers crossed it actually pans out, because words like these can come back to haunt you.

Kotaku is following up with Microsoft and will update this post should the company comment.

I also liked reading the rumor related to the microsoft-sony.com domain registration that suggested that MS and sony are working together on their next consoles. The microsoft-sony thing, registered by MS is claimed by MS to be a protective effort, to keep somebody else from registering that domain.

Ah, Activision should have been so proactive. They are fighting with someone that registered modernwarfare3.com and is redirecting it to the Battlefield 3 webpage....

That right there is genius level thinking on someone's part ... not so much for Activision. I bet Kotick's head exploded over that one.

Looks like he with the big legal budget wins, that url is dead now.

Back on topic, if the next console has the kind of power the AMD guy is talk about the next console will be pretty bad ass.

I hate to go off topic again, but can you link to why the URL is now dead instead of activation having to buy the URL from the guy?

    Minor update to this thread...

According to Daniel Landis on Examiner.com, the new August issue of the Official Xbox Magazine contains an interview with AMD's Director of ISV Relationships Neal Robison. In this interview, Robson claims that the next Xbox will manage to produce "Avatar-quality" visuals, and allow for AI that gives each pedestrian in games like Grand Theft Auto a distinct personality.

Of course AMD hasn't explicitly confirmed that it'll be developing chips for Microsoft's next console. However, considering Microsoft's history with AMD and rival chipmaker NVIDIA, it's probably safe to assume they are.

I don't know how much control MS actually has with the mag but if the story is running the the Official XBL mag that would certainly make me think these comments are spot on??
