    The Witcher

Did anyone play the Witcher 2 on PC? I've been looking at the console version that is getting ready to drop. No MP obviously, but I'm a sucker for a good RPG, and apparently it was right behind Skyrim as runner-up for RPG of the year. Anyone else looking at this?

I'm curious about this one too. It could be my next RPG (because I don't think I'll ever get back into Mass Effect).

It received better ratings that Dragon Age 2 (which I didn't think was so bad). I already have it on pre-order.

Dragon Age 2 wasn't so bad, but disappointing compared to the first. I've heard good things about The Witcher on PC, so I'm looking forward to this.
You dumb bastard. It's not a schooner, it's a sailboat.

I played both Witchers on PC. I have no idea what the console experience will be like, but they were both outstanding PC games. They are much more story-driven than an Elder Scroll's game, so your exploration tends to be much more linear. Both had exceptional (post-patch) combat systems, allowing you to mix and match magic and blades. Oh, your choices? They matter.

Thanks for the input, Frakir. It won't be a day one purchase for me with all the other stuff I'm trying to finish up but I will definitely be getting this.

I got The Witcher 2 today at Best Buy (they price matched Toys R Us's online price of $44.99) and I'm impressed by the packaging: game on two DVDs, soundtrack CD, foldout map, manual, and "Quest Handbook" which is an 80+ page strategy guide (of sorts) written from the perspective of the player (???). In an age where you're lucky if your game comes with a physical instruction manual of any sort, it's nice that your fifty dollars includes these goodies. As for the game itself... I can't wait to play it!

I'm looking forward to hearing your impressions, Sheriff. The videos I've seen on XBL look phenomenal, the PC version got great reviews, and the 360 version is crammed with extra content. However, I'm not buying any more strictly single-player games until I catch up on my backlog. Especially with Ghost Recon getting ready to drop next month.

I picked up this game over lunch today. Looking forward to starting it after I complete Dead Island.

I wrote up a blog post about some Witcher 2 basics, like combat, potions, traps, etc.
