I am looking forward to see how this one is going to turn out. I had been on zombie overload for a while but the Tell Tale game brought me back to some enjoyment. I am surprised more people aren't commenting more about that game here. I absolutely love it.

Here is some info I found:

    www.dixonsvixens.com

The Dixon brothers are trying to get to Atlanta and this involves not only finding a vehicle but navigating roads often blocked by abandoned cars and other obstructions. Although the game isn’t composed of a single open world area you have full freedom to decide what route you use, as well as whether you take other survivors with you.
These survivors come in varying levels of usefulness, with what looks like fairly detailed role-playing stats dictating their health and combat prowess – as well as special abilities such as being a doctor.
Probed further about the role of survivors it doesn’t seem as if you’ll be able to take groups of them with you when you explore the game world (the main story campaign is apparently single-player only), but you will be able to send them off on their own resource-gathering missions or simply get them to wait back at your ride.
For a start using a gun is described as a last resort, not least because the noise will attract other walkers (i.e. zombies). But then Daryl prefers using a crossbow anyway. Considerable effort has gone into perfecting the walkers’ artificial intelligence. They might be mindless brain chompers but walkers will see or smell you at a distance and will often be stalking you without you having any idea they’re there.

Another screen shot from the game – Daryl possibly searching for supplies?

And now for the not so great news about the game: Recently Michael Rooker said via his twitter account that as of yet he has not been able to reach an agreement with the game creators to voice the part of Merle. This is extremely disappointing to us fans should the actor who plays the part of Merle – and such a video game veteran – be left out of the game. Always being a man of class though, Rooker had this to say:
There are lots of reasons why negotiations breakdown on projects. “The walking dead game” is one of those. There are no bad guys here.

I really hope that they do it justice and don't just shove a product out to capitalize on the hotness of the brand. Two potential problems- Robert Kirkman has already stated that he has very little to do with this project; it is all AMC pushing it because it is based on the show and not the comic. Also, Michael Rooker has not signed on to voice Merle yet...hopefully that is not indicative of budget problems. His voice is so distinctive, I'm not sure how they would pull it off without him.

Game is now called "The Walking Dead: Survival Instinct".

And the screenshot they give us is one of a trailer park. Without Zombies. Classy.

I have a gut feeling that this is going to be very good or terrible. It is being made by Terminal Reality which doesn't have the greatest track record, with Bloodrayne and Ghostbusters being heir most notable games. I enjoyed Ghostbusters although it wasn't close to being a AAA product. I liken it to a campy B movie that you enjoy although you know it isn't great.

I think if you are going to make a game in the Walking Dead universe, you have to capitalize on the desperation that the survivors feel. The Tell Tale game does that nicely and I am worried a FPS won't pull that off. I don't want a situation where you are mowing down hundreds of zombies at a time. I want to feel overwhelmed by a few of them at a time and have to conserve my resources.

The article above does talk about the gun as a last resort though. I just hope that is the case.

I agree 100%. What worries me is that I can just picture their marketing team in a brainstorming session - "It's a like a tactical first person shooter, but with this emphasis on stealth, and all the bad guys are ZOMBIES! Err, I mean Walkers. And you get to play as Daryl Dixon! Yep, all the buzzwords are in there...it's a surefire hit."

I have my eye on this game with tempered expectations. Like already stated, if you don't have the survival element in the game, it just could be another zombie horde mode game. They need to capture TRUE survival horror (ie Dead Space) to make it work for me.

BTW...Tell Tale has announced that there will be a season 2 of their game. GOTY for me right now. Love it.
