Apparently the A & B versions have to do with which firmware your camera has on it already.

I found this video on youtube: http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=oO_4xyW-T0Q which talks about copying the vers.req file from any of the builds onto your memory card and then pressing at least on the elph, the FUNC and DISP buttons simultaneously to show the version.

Then you download the correct version and copy the DISKBOOT.BIN, english.lng, and PS.FIR files over to your memory card.
    (english.lng is the CHDK\LANG folder).

I was able to install it on my SD1000 but it was strange. I need to mess around with it some more. There's -so- many (too many) options.

i was able to put this on the S5 when i had my sister's camera. the only trouble was i had to launch it every time i started the camera. as far as i can recollect (it's been a year or so) it sits on the sd card and one must go in through the menu to run it every time. it's also not simple to know if it's actually on. it took me a couple of deliberate efforts to find i had it installed correctly.

i do know it will work on that camera, though.

If you make the card bootable from a CHDK menu, and then set the "write protect" switch on the card, it will both stay in auto-boot mode AND still write pictures to the card. When you put card into your computer to remove pictures, you'll (probably) have to remember to unwrite-protect the card to delete them.

There's also an "alt key" that toggles the CHDK menu on and off. On my SD1000, it's the printer button.

Squire comes through! I'm going to check this out when I get home and see what my firmware is.
