    Madden 13 Demo Impressions

    I will make this bulletized:

    LOVE!:
    - The new presentation.
    - The silky smooth framerate.
    - The new physics system.

    Like:
    - The new commentary. Although it still seems choppy and some words are out of place.
    - The gameplay tweaks. Running is improved as are the WR's route running and offensive line blocking.
    - They did upgrade the game in the graphics department and everything looks nice and polished.
    - I really like how the audible screens display now. I'm not sure how it is different but it just is. I can't figure out why they are easier to use and navigate...but they are.

    Dislike:
    - The new sound they are using for tackles. Seriously, WTF is that?
    - The new sound they use for when the play clock gets low. You can barely hear it.
    - Although the graphics are better somehow I think the grass is worse.

    ABSOLUTELY HATE:
    - Your defenders still drop interceptions even if they are turned around with nobody else near them. This happened to me twice already. Absolutely no excuse for it.

    I can totally agree on the presentation. It is vastly improved from last year. I'm also enjoying the new physics engine although I've seen some weird animations that usually occur when a game has a "real" physics engine. One neat thing that I encountered that I loved was when I was scrambling with RG3. A defender went low on RG3 and RG3 fell down on top of the defender but his knee did not touch the ground. RG3 was able to get up and continue the run for a few more yards. The play did not stop which was awesome to see. Also, the physics of players jumping for a fumble is awesome too. The pile looks like a real pile up.

    Yeah the animations are sick. I saw a defender grab Helu, spin him around and he broke free. But he was off balance then got decked by the DB. It was incredible. I can honestly say I have never seen anything like that before in any previous Madden games.

    Lets hope these are bugs that they will clean up before the release. Liked the new animations, player's movement seems more fluid, great tackling except for the sound of the hits. Way better presentation and commentary. Smackem was right about those dropped int's. Still very excited, can't wait for Madden Holidays!!

    Not sure if this makes a difference but during one of the loading screens last night I saw a tip that said you need to hold "Y" for interceptions. I never knew that unless it is something new.

    I also saw that the designated button for your players out on passing routes will be dim while they are running but turn solid when they are looking for the ball. Also something I did not know.

    I did notice the buttons fading out too, as far as the int's I've always done that though. If anyone wants to play a practice game over the weekend hit me up. I will be available Fri and Sat nite, I'm gonna go see Coheed&Cambria tonite

    I have to say I really like the demo. The new physics engine is great, and believe it or not the thing I noticed a lot was on interception returns. In the past, I would just start holding up to get moving at the screen flips, but now you continue in the direction of motion you were in. no more turning on a dime.

    I was playing on All Pro and made some bad passes that got picked off otherwise I would have beat the Giants. I racked up 42 on the redskins on pro difficulty. Pro seemed to easy.

    If you pause the game you can turn on the Madden 10 style audible system (this is my preferred) and you can turn off the accelerated clock which give you more game time.

    Looking forward to the release in two weeks.
