Is XBOX Live down? Or was it a whale that bit through my cable to the US?!

It's gaming time over here - and I try to get on to XBOX live.
But I can't.
And I cannot access XBOX.com or xbox.com.au. Neither from my PC (which is connected to the same network as my XBOX360), nor via my mobile phone(which uses a different ISP).

Just curious if that's only an Australian thing (a whale that bit through my XBOX live cable) or whether any of you guys in the US currently have the same problem.

Well, whatever happened seems to have been resolved within an hour...

There i was quite happy listening to Last.FM and at 11am I had nothing. Not even a polite notice to say they were having issues their end - had me checking cables and everything. Came back on an hour ago.

I had some weird issues last night playing Madden. I was getting a message that voice chat was not available with that game because of my account, yet i was voice chatting away.

I was having issues all last night where random people would show up muted, and the option (in Reach) to unmute was greyed out. I could only hear two people in a full Geezer room at one point. We tried forming a party, but I noticed the same people showed up in the party as muted as well, so it was a system issue, not a game issue. (Not that the party helped anything; since I'm in the dashboard preview and almost everyone else in the party wasn't, I couldn't hear anyone that way, either.)

There was a dashboard update (for the preview) last night; I don't know if that had anything to do with it or not.

I was checking on the status of my repair and noticed a report that new users wouldn't be able to create accounts, but they were reporting that Live, Matchmaking and Billing were all up. They said they knew what the problem was and were resolving the issue. My guess would be part of the fix broke some other parts.

At times the inter-continental link goes down. We had a full day or so a few months back where we couldn't reach any of our equipment in our Melbourne datacenter.

OF COURSE billing would be up and running.
